Beijing startup incubator association is an organization established just the stage when high-tech enterprise incubators were in fast development. It is necessary to establish self-discipline organization if the industry gets mature. However, without any experience as reference, it is difficult to successfully establish a self-discipline institution for incubator industry. As the first domestic industrial association, Beijing startup incubator association assumes the important duty of despoliation, innovation and guide.

Beijing startup incubator association is a non-profitable institution that represent the incubator industry to participate social activities, whose duty is to protect the interest and right of overall incubator industry, regulate management of incubator, and serve for incubator. One of its important functions is: represent incubator industry to join in international intercourse, establish international image, strengthen international status, and guide industrial development and integration with international tendency.

For its special international communication and industrial effect, in 2001, Beijing government cooperates with international science area association and establishes Beijing agency of international science area association, which is based on Beijing startup incubator association; the agreement further improves the function of Beijing startup incubator as international window, strengthen its ability of international service. Based on Beijing government, it unites domestic and international related organizations find deep cooperation (for example, join in international science and technology cooperation association, extensive organization that government cooperates with international science), participate research for incubator and international cooperation of science area.

International activities that Beijing startup incubator association involves and assumes can be divided into three parts:

1. Normal intercourse and exchange. For example, every March the association holds international enterprise incubator forum in the period of science exhibition, invite famous incubator experts and managers to exchange experiences, provide international incubator modes for domestic colleagues and master international industrial tendency; every year the association holds certain regular exchanges that domestic and international institutions visit one another, for example, in 2001, the association welcomed professors of Pennsylvanian University U.S., in 2002, talked with science counselor of Germany embassy; the association also sends technicians to receive training in headquarters of international science area association in Spanish. The similar exchange activities are being arranged annually.

2. Strengthen cooperation: the association will organize domestic incubator managers to investigate international advanced incubators and science areas and learn their successful experiences in proper time; with the development of Chinese incubator, we start to output management experiences of incubator, assist neighborhood country to develop economy by incubator mode. Moreover, experts of incubator association actively participates teaching incubator concepts and experiences for some Asia countries. For example, in 2002, they were invited in the seminar organized by UN Asia and Pacific social and economic organization.

Venture Capital Association of Beijing a the non-profit juridical association registered in association office of Beijing; an industrial self-discipline and service organization whose members are mostly venture capital institutions and investors; an open community for overall society. It is the first union in venture capital industry whose purpose is “serve for startup and guide investment”. There are nearly 100 members and directors in the organization, including startup investors, related professional institutions, inventors, financers and intermediate service organizations. Their business involves industrial investigation, commission undertaking, international intercourse, professional training, information exchange and providing policies and advises for government.

Organize industrial investigation and work out corresponding industrial statistic and research report annually. “2002 Development report for venture capital of China” and “2002 Development report for venture capital of Beijing”
•  Provide consulting services
Establish commonweal web for the association, provide industrial information, master dynamic information of industrial development, edit “venture capital briefing”(weekly) and “venture capital electronic paper” （ half weekly ） ,etc.
•  Promote domestic and international industrial exchange
Organize professional investigation teams to Taiwan and U.S., arrange non-periodical discussions and seminars to promote industrial exchange and cooperation
•  Provide business assistance: collect, select and recommend project resource, hold project non-periodical salons and recommended meetings, and provide resources such as projects and talents for VC institutions.
•  Hold professional training
Hold periodical VC refresher courses for professional venture capital managers, and invite experts of “863 project” to make technical speech about tendency of industrial development.
•  Organize various member sodality activities
Hold periodical culture and sports activities such as swimming and badminton games, subject salons and VC superior feast.
•  Provide related industrial policies, regulations and information consultancy
Assist propaganda and implementation, work out and print present industrial policies in time.
•  Make full use of governmental resources
Assist propaganda and implementation of governmental preferential policies, evaluate and recommend alternative enterprises in accordance with governmental awards; on the other hand, assume soft research subjects that government commissions and other tasks.
•  Provide other pertinent services
According to actual demands of member, provide instant services.
